Our First Children's Book Is Here!

An ultrasound machine with a friendly smiling wand character surrounded by stars.

“I Can Get an Ultrasound” is done, free, and ready to read. It walks kids through what happens during an ultrasound and helps them ask for what they need.

Our New Board Member: Welcome Brittany!

We’re excited to welcome Brittany Zackery to our Board of Directors!

Brittany is passionate about healthcare education and advocacy. After joining her grandfather’s in-home hospice caregiving team, she learned that hospice isn’t about accelerating the end. It’s about easing anxiety, managing pain, and bringing peace during a vulnerable time. She now shares what she learned with others in her community.

She also has a passion for working with kids and volunteers her time reading to children and encouraging a love of books. That connection to youth and literacy is a natural fit for our children’s book series.

Meet Our Next Illustrator: Rosie Yancey

Our second children’s book, “I Can Go to the Doctor,” now has an illustrator!

We’d like you to meet Maya-Rose (Rosie) Yancey, an artist based in Kansas City studying at the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s art program.

In Rosie’s words: “I am very excited to illustrate this project. It means a lot to me, because I myself am autistic and have a background in caring for people on the spectrum. I have had my fair share of feeling afraid of the doctor and other medical activities, so I hope to help ease that for children.”

New Volunteer Position: Social Media Creator

We’re looking for a volunteer to help us create posts for Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky. You pick from a list of topics, we provide the content and direction, and you design the post. We give feedback and you get credit on everything you create.

Each post takes about 30 to 60 minutes. No ongoing weekly commitment. No medical background needed.

This is a brand new role, so you’ll help shape the process with us.
